The Rhondda Hotel, Cymmer, Wales, Saturday May 8th. 2004

This place is getting to be a great venue with a crowd to match. It just gets better and better. We could have sold about a dozen CDs, but as usual, we forgot to bring any with us. We must be losing on ourselves. Anyway, the unique Subterraneans sound seems to have developed a lot more, and we've become tighter and more 'up in your face' as it were. The Rhondda Hotel is just the place to prove that, and we came away well satisfied that we'd been able to give some people a good night. We trust that they all enjoyed it as much as we enjoyed playing there. We'd recommend this place to any band, as Kevin Doyle is trying his damndest to get it all off the ground, and we wish him every success. Venues like this are now becoming few and far between simply because people seem to have forgetten what live music is all about.

The Pig Inn The City, Gloucester, Saturday April 10th 2004

This was our second visit to this great venue in the middle of Gloucester City. Once again, a pity that not many turned up, but a great atmosphere was generated by the few who did. Some had even travelled from Oxford to see this curious little band, and they told us that they were very glad they did; so were we come to think of it, as they helped fill the place up! Still, we're back again on July 10th.

The District Club, Pontypridd. Fri. April 2nd. 2004

We search high and low for great venues, as we have to admit that we sometimes feel like the proverbial, ' prophet in his own country' trying to elicit a response in our own backyard. Still, here was a venue sitting on our own doorstep that we didn't even know about. We were pleasantly surprised to find such a great audience in Tom Jones Town , and we made the most of it by rising to the occasion. Must admit, it reminded us of the old days at The Sheps, being with people who are really into their music. We hope we can make it back to the District again sometime. Long may it go on.

The Shepherd's Arms, Cwmaman, March 27th, 2004

This was history in the making! Looks like the end of The Sheps as we know it, so the fat lady has finally sung and another great venue bites the dust. Still, it was a wild night and the packed pub was bouncing. We came to say farewell to landlady, Margaret, and to make the most of a bitter sweet night. Thanks to Bernie for setting it all up and beating his skin in the corner (the one stretched across his drum, of course). We'll all miss The Sheps, but life must go on.
